Costs 除解作「費用」外，還可指「訟費」或「訴訟費」。 Tax 作動詞時，除解作「向...徵稅」外，還有「評定」的意思。因此， costs to be taxed 應譯作「訟費有待評定」 。
香港法院審結民事案件時，可能會判一方支付訟費，但訟費的數額應該是多少才算合理，就要經過評定。請看香港一位法官頒發的以下一段命令：
